Energy can be classified as either potential or kinetic energy. Explain how energy follows the first law of thermodynamics as it goes from the sun to glucose. Clearly state when there is a transition from one form to another.
6CO2+ 6H2O ------> C6H12O6 + 6CO2
The process of conversion of sunlight into glucose occurs in three photosynthetic pathways: C3, C4 and CAM cycle.
plants are autotrophic in nature and they use sunlight to produce glucose which is known as energy transformation. The light energy from the sun and the carbon dioxide from the environment with absorption of water from soil undergo the process of photosynthesis by multiple chemical reactions to produce chemical energy glucose. the captured energy from the sun is stored in the bonds of of glucose.
In the first energy transformation reaction the energy from sun is converted into adenosine triphosphate ATP and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate NADP. These molecules of ATP and ADP was used for the further processing of photosynthesis in which small molecules of carbon dioxide assembled to form carbon chain. This carbon chain further form complete molecule of glucose.
The photosynthesis pathway involves multiple reactions.
