In the past, researchers in psychology used some "ethically questionable" research techniques. Do you believe that some of these techniques were useful despite their ethical shortcomings? Explain. How did these “ethically questionable” techniques lend to the creation of the code of ethics?
Research ethics provide a guideline as to how research should be conducted in an ethical manner.Firstly research should be done with the consent of research participants, research must avoid injury pshysically or mentally, proper environment and protection of participants is necessary, research must be based on sound theory before animal testing.
The focus of research lies in the education of researches that regard the ethical principles as well as oversight of current and potential subjects. All researchers should be familiar with ethical guidelines and upto date knowledge of principles and proceedures.Psychologists are still faced today with ethical issues .
For example if a researcher is a non participant behaviour to observe child in a school setting. When two children get into a fight and one is more likely to be harmed, the researches intervenes and he no longer can be a observer.Initially psychologists worked on animals ,in recent times most of the laboratories do not conduct experiments on animals. When considering ethics, psychologists have to study whether the research being done will yield proper results without breaking the ethics .
