Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:

The correct option among given four is:

The maxima radial probability of finding the electron in a 3s orbital is smaller than for the 3p orbital.

Reason/ explanation:

This is so because 3s orbital have lesser energy (compare to 3p orbital) and closer to nucleus so 3s electron will have more electrostatic attraction than 3p electron. Also the 3p electron were shielded from nucleus by 3s electrons and other inner electrons.
