In a comprehensive summary, vividly outline the Rise and Fall, the issues/problems of Bill Cosby?
From 1984 to 1992, Bill Cosby was known as Dr. Cliff Huxtable: the sweater-wearing, the wisdom of The Cosby Show. Well before his first-ever film, the entertainer became the first black actor to appear in a network show with I Spy in the '60s. He was America 's father to the public: the public laughed with him for decades and grieved with him when his son Ennis was assassinated in 1997. But the truth is that he was nothing like the beloved character he portrayed or his perceived public image, and today's guilty verdict proves it.
While claims have poured in the last two years, Cosby's long-standing supporters and his legacy have seen the charges as an assault on black people, a witch hunt, and the collapse of their beloved hero. The allegations came well before # MeToo-the anti-sexual misconduct movement-where powerful men in Hollywood, such as Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer, Kevin Spacey and Senator Al Franken, had their actions taken. But Cosby's retrial came right in the midst of its rise-something that would have led to justice being done.
By December 2015, he had been formally charged with three counts of aggravated assault by Constand. Now Director of Operations for the Women's Basketball Team at Temple University, Constand said he sexually harassed her in 2004 when she was a Young basketball player looking for an actor's mentor. At the first trial, Constand admitted that Cosby had given her three pills, called "your mates," which she claimed were herbal remedies to help relieve tension, but actually caused her to fall asleep. Cosby, however, argued that he had given her Benadryl and that she had consented to sexual intercourse with the star. The case was ruled as a mistrial a year ago, but the plaintiffs reclaimed the case.
Finally, 14 years after the attack, Cosby was found guilty of all three charges of assault. It was difficult to argue that this had happened to Constand. Since 1965, 62 suspected victims of Cosby's sexual harassment have been reported as having been sexually abused by the actor as recently as 2008. Yet Constand was the only publicly known survivor whose charges fall within the scope of the law.
