Shining Path is an extreme left maost rebels which was formed with the goal of overthrowing the peruvian government. The group was once very active and powerful, but now it is veryweak and not powerful compete or overthrow the government.

RISE OF SHINING PATH.

In 1960 Prof. Abimeal Guzman and many like minded people formed the Shing Star with the strong leftist maoist ideology with the goal of overthrowing the peruvian government and establish a new rule in the country.
At the time of forming Shining Path Guzman was the phiolosophy teacher at at San Cristóbal of Huamanga University and he recruted many like minded young academecians to the organisation.

For the first time in 1980 the campaign was launched by him to overthrow the peruvian government.

The main stategy of Shining Path was to bring violence and internal disturbance and by that to bring down the peruvian government and to replace it with the communist peasent revulutionary regime.

The Shining Path started the direct guirilla type war against the already weaken government, with support of peasant groups and labour class. In 1983 the perivian government declared emergenct and many Shining Path leaders were arrested in the next 24 hours, and it weaken the organisation. By this time the Shining Path also begin to loose it's support by the people because of it's extremism and fundementalism and also the government gained sympathy among the people.

The leftist assasination carried and peaking in 1988 and then deceleration.
1n 1992 the Alberto Fujimori admistration dissolved congress and dismantled the law and orders and the army began to murder peruvian in large number who were suspected to be member of Shining Path.

DECLINE OF SHINING PATH.

After the dissolving of congress by Fujimori administration, he took control of the countries major institutions with promising to bring back the democracy within one year. on september 12, 1992 Guzman was captured by the local authority and this made a major decrease in the violence and effectively weaken the Shining Path. The group began to split due to lack of leadership and organizational issues.

INSURGENCY OF SHINING PATH.

The recent reports show that the Shining Path may be making some plan to comeback and to reorganize it's cadre and military strenth to overthrow the peruvian government in well and better manner to achieve in which they failed before. If the terrorist outfit come again definitely it will make chaos in peru and it will be a internal threat to the government.

The Sining Path killed a police officer in 2008 and wounded 11 on anti- drug squad.
In 2015 two top ranking commanders of shining path was arrested.
In recent months some kidnapping and murder occured and these could be an indication of the coming back of the Shining path.

Comrade Artemio is said to be the current leader of the organization.
