Introduced in 1960, CPR has been widely used in patients with sudden cardiac collapse patients. With 0-28% survival rate of this technique it is being widely used in other group of patients. Important components of this technique include : immediate response of the medical team (if in hospital), Chest compressions, rapid defibrillation, effective advance life support, Integrated post cardiac arrest care.
Chest compression plays an important role as it needs to be atleast 100/min depending upon the age of the patient adult or child and the location where compression needs to be given. proper airway opening for oxygenation and ventilation. Chest compression should be kept minimum to improve defibrillation outcomes.
There have been many studies that includes the role of different health care workers and their role in CPR in emergency situations. Also the need for it corporate employees and high school students is still debatable.
Also some studiies highlights whether critical care patients consent is required for CPR or family and doctors decision is enough.
Essay in detail can include the role of every health care and non healthcare individual in perfoming this emergency life saving techniqueas there are many supportive studies. Also when it should be performed.and when it should not be.
