Insights and reflection about Weidenbach's model of nursing.
Weidenbach's model of nursing states that any person getting any sort of help from the healthcare system can be called a patient. He necessarily doesn't have to be ill or injured to be labeled as a patient. A person getting health advice be it mental or physical can also be a patient cause they are seeking help from an expert.
According to this nursing theory, Identifying a patient's condition through observation of symptoms and behavior, trying to understand and make sense of those symptoms, and also finding the cause of pain and discomfort that is bothering the patient. It also determines whether the patient requires any additional help from a nurse or any other health care official.
A nurse is a person who shows clinical judgment to make better decisions, decisions that are based on knowledge grasped over time. It can be factual, speculative or practical. This helps a nurse to make sound decisions and provide appropriate medical help to a patient. A patient's requirement for medical help according to the patient itself should be such that it potentially revitalizes or extends the patient's ability to counter the situations that affect health.
There are 4 components of the Nursing Principle: a philosophy, a purpose, a practice, and art.
Philosophy is a person's belief and attitude of doing things in life and how those beliefs shape their reality. There are three components associated with this philosophy: The importance of Life, Respect for individuality of a person, and a strong resolution to act on those beliefs.
The purpose of a Nurse is the goal which the nurse wants to accomplish by doing what they do. All the activities that are done for the betterment of the patient, fall under that purpose.
The practice of nursing are the noticeable actions that are
affected by the nurse’s beliefs and knowledge
for trying to help the patient's health.
The art of Nursing includes knowing the patient's needs and concerns. Developing a strategy and plan of action to enhance the condition of the patient. The focus of a nurse should be towards avoiding any complications that may re-occur or any development of new symptoms.
