Six sets of identical twins were randomly selected from a population of identical twins. Note that identical twins are genetically the “same” person. One child was taken at random from each pair to form an experimental group and this group participated in a program designed to promote creative thinking. The other child was placed in a control group where no training was provided. At the end of the program, each group was given a creative problem-solving test with the results in the following table:
Twin pair A B C D E F
Experimental group 53 35 12 25 33 47
Control Group 39 21 5 18 21 42
Higher scores indicate better performance in creative problem-solving.
Compute d and d s .
At the 0.5% significance level, test the claim that the program given to the experimental group did promote creative problem-solving.
