Discuss the differences between the Thermodilution method and the Fick’s Oxygen method.
Thermodilution and Fick's oxygen method are used to measure
cardiac output. it used in critical clinical decisions.
Thermodilution method used social thermistor-tipped catheter placed
from peripheral vein in to the pulmonary artery. it involve in the
process physiological conditions with constant observation, heat
exchange in the surrounding tissues, temperature sensor with
sufficient sensitive, accurate and rapid response measure the
changes in temperature overtime. The changes in blood measured
through the temperature flows over the termistor catheter tip that
measure the cardiac output.
Fick's oxygen method uptake the substance by any organ with
ateriovenous concentration difference of the substance and blood
flow to that organ. Cardiac output calculated as oxygen consumption
divided by aterovenous oxygen conservation difference. it is a most
accurate method of measuring cardiac output.
