Expert Solution

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is wireless communication that is incorporates by using electromagnetic radio frequency to uniquely identify object. These will provide tracking capability in industries, health care sector to increase efficiencies, cut cost and improve the tracking technologies.

They are three types of radio frequency identification in health care

A) Passive RFID:

Usage of these type is very simple, battery free and have a high power readers. The readers send low frequency signal that transmit energy over the air and antenna receive all the waves through brute force. The tag then transmit to the reader with different frequency.

Advantages:

  • These type is extremely inexpensive(10cents) that will tract thousands of items.
  • It is aren't battery powered that is it does not require any energy.

Disadvantages:

  • It is not useful for determining where is item is placed.
  • You may not able to find any tagged object unless it is placed around reader.

B) Active RFID

It is like aware or alert point that is tags can initiate connection with readers by constantly alarm out of signal.Reader can collect all the location data from each tagged device and transmit these data to cloud.

Advantages:

  • Compare to passive, active RFID convey you where every tagged item is in real time.
  • It is moderate expensive that passive and less expensive that infrared Real time life system.
  • It require less infrastructure for implementation to make them ideal for hospital.

Disadvantages:

  • It use batteries that require high maintenance.
  • There is large amount of data flow from readers to the cloud which can be problematic for implementation.

C) Intelligent RFID:

It is similar to active RFID that battery sensors can access points that send data back to the cloud.and algorithm in cloud run those readings.A tag will arise on certain intervals and scan the environment for their reference.Tagged item will move up to last interval

Advantages:

  • Data is transmitted when ever necessary which saves energy.
  • It will provide detailed location accuracy.
  • It can support low latency application.
  • It can support to other Bluetooth applications.

Disadvantage:

  • It require high maintenance.
  • It is not best compare to other RFID
