there are six conditions that predict conformity, describe each one which are, group size, unanimity, cohesion, status, public response, and prior commitment? how would you apply each of the six conditions if you were the person in charge of an ad campaign for increasing enrollment for a college?
Group size - In conformity, group size is really importance because as the size increases, conformity of the group also increases along with that. But this effect is not direct but in two different things, one normative and the other informative. Normative influence which means, the ability of the group's ability to reward or punish any deviation and the informative influence which means the ability to share real information.
Unanimity - It is quite natural that we form our opinion with the group. If majority takes a decision then one person or minority group will go with the majority.
Cohesion - It's about sticking together with others and showing solidarity with the group, especially in times of crisis.
Status - People with high social status will impact the decisions made in the team. So weak people tend to be with people of high status.
Public response - People tend to support whatever is predicted to win. People predict or go along with the opinion polls.
Prior commitment - This is about sticking to the promises that people have already made. They don't change their promises under any pressure.
2. I'll identify enough number of people from the existing students group who really benefitted out of the college programmes and equip them with enough information by printing brochures and leaflets. While attending the prospective students, the group of students will tell how many students have already enrolled in our college already for various reasons. This will impact the decisions they make. I'll make sure that everyone in the group stick together and give the same information to maintain uniformity. I'll also use few students whose parents have high social status and students who are placed in good companies. I'll conduct a public survey with people who are already supporting our college and show the feedback with the prospective students. While collecting the list, I'll also get a promise that students who are convinced will join our college only and ask them to pay a token advance with some special offers before a certain date.
Thank you.
