• Divergence means when an individual is able think uniquely and generate exclusive solutions to solve a problem. For example,in a brainstroming session,one can come up with multiple ideas to solve a problem. It involves more spontaneity and free flow of ideas.
• Convergence means when an individual thinks more systematically and logically. Creativity is used less as it focuses upon providing one single correct answer. For example, True or False like in a multiple choice test.
• They are simliar as both these thinking processes are implemented in order to explore creativity and find solutions to different problems.
• The study of language is often divided into semantics, syntactics and pragmatics.
• Semantics focus on the meaning of words. The meaning of sentences requires understanding both the meaning of individual words and the syntactic context in which the words are embedded. For example, pointing at a word and trying to read and understand it.
• Syntactic rules focuses on verbal reasoning. It focuses on understanding content whether its abstract or literal. For example,story writing which could be a work of fiction that you could discuss or reason.
• Pragmatic is the study of how language is used and how the different uses of language determine semantics and syntax. The ability to understand another speaker's intended meaning is called pragmatic competence. For example, the interaction happens between people like asking "how are you?" and replying "Fine,How are you?"It is seen as an understanding between people to obey certain rules of interaction in everyday language.
• Relative words are used for drawing comparisons and analogies.A relative term is a term that makes two or more distinct references to objects.
