Jan is a 75-year old woman who has lost significant weight in the last year. She has complaints of anorexia and joint pain. She states she just doesn’t feel like eating sometimes. She has had significant constipation causing hemorrhoids and states it is very difficult to stool.

ANS I medical history- to effectively treat Jane, doctor will ask for medical history by examining rectum and anal canal and look for symptoms like
-Itching or irritation in analregion,pain or discomfort
- bleeding, swelling around anus.
- Enema and laxatives uses andcurrent medical condition .
- internal Hemorrhoids that have fallen through anal opening called prolapse
-Blood clot in a vein
ANS 2. EDUCATION - Doctor will educate the patient to
-. Eat high fibre foods like grains , fruits , vegetables etc.
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Use hemorrhoid creams or suppositories containing hydrocortisone to relieve pain
- Don't strain when trying to pass stool
-. Soak the rectal area for 10 to 15 minutes for 2-3 times a day
ANS 3. COMPLICATIONS -.
1. ANEMIA -. Chronic blood loss , may cause anemia , in which a patient don't have enough red blood cells to carry oxygen to cells
2. Strangulated Hemorrhoid - This may cause extreme pain
3. Blood clot -. Although not dangerous ,can be extremely painful sometimes need to be drained
4.Infection in the tissue.
