Arthritis of the auditory ossicles or scarring secondary to an infection in the middle ear can lead to conduction deafness. What treatment options are available for this condition?
TREATMENT FOR CONDUCTION DEAFNESS
When the infection of the middle ear is still persisting it shoul be treated by doing
1)Aural Toilet : Clean the ear with the help of normal saline solution
2)Antibiotic Ear drops to trea the infection.
When the ear is free from infection and it is dry we can go for surgical correction of conducton deafness.
When there is a conduction deafness there will be associated tear in the tympanic membrane and there will be destruction of the ear ossicles. So the best surgery to correct the conduction deafness is Tympanoplasty .
Tympanoplasty is the eradication of the middle ear infection with the correction of hearing problem .
Tympanoplasty include reconstruction of the tympanic membrane and reconstrcution of the ear ossicles.
Tympanic membrane hole can can be reconstructeed using a graft from the tendon of the temporalis muscle .
Inorder to correct the ear ossicle dysfunction Ear ossicle reconstruction should be done.
Ear ossicle Reconstruction : it iinclude removal of the degraded ear ossicle and placing ear ossicle prosthetic implant because the destructed ear ossicle cannot be repaired,it can only be replaced.
