What do you do in the event of a seizure, orthostatic hypotension, or autonomic dysreflexia? WHY are you taking the specific actions for each?
Seizure : It means abnormal elctrical activity in the brain. Also called as convulsions.
If a person had a sudden episode of seizure, following steps need to tbe taken:
1. Remove all the sharp objects nearby - It harms during activity
2. Losen the clothing - To provide adequate amount of air and remove tightness
3. Put left lateral position - To avoid tounge bite and to drain the oral fluid.
4. Usually treated by medications( Inj/Tab : Eptoin)
5. EEG to be done
5. Sometimes surgery also proposed.
Orthostatic hypertesion: It is also known as Postrual hypertension. The blood pressure increases when the person in standing position. This may cause due to dehydration or bradycardia. Vasopressors are given to treat this orthostatic hypertension.
Autonomic dysreflexia : It is a sudden onset of high bllodpressure.
These actions to be taken immediately when the patient is effected, if not treated on time there is a chance of landing in coma or may be death.
