please select one of the digestive chemicals and describe what happens when that chemical malfunctions or is missing (not produced). Is there a recognized health disorder associated with this improperly functioning chemical?
Bile salts are green –yellow fluid produced by liver and stored in gallbladder. They promote digestion and absorption in stomach. They help to solubalise dietary fats and play an important role in intestinal fat absorption. They are synthesized in liver from cholesterol. Deficiency of bile leads to kidney stones and gallstones Gallstones are one of the major and frequent disorders occurring now a day.Large amount of cholestrol which bile cannot dissolve, presence of too much bilurubin and gall bladder not emptying properly may lead to gall stone.Eating high fat content food may lead to gall stone. Bile deficiency may occur due to liver disease, bacterial over growth, defect in the intestinal reabsorption of bile salts. Deficiency of bile salts leads to poor digestion, diarrhea, stomach cramps and pale stools. Lower concentration of bile acids leads to accumulation of cholesterol leading to gall stones leads to microcrystal formation. Oral bile acid therapy can be used to treat gall stones.
