In 200 words or more, explain what a “Global Mindset” is and explain the importance of establishing and maintaining one in any company wishing to compete successfully in the world market.
“Global Mindset” is very beneficial for companies that tend to compete successfully in the world market. A global mindset refers to the ability to reflexively adjust to the cultural signals to ensure that the company's effectiveness isn’t compromised with dealing with people from different styles and backgrounds. A Global Mindset profile have three key elements: Intellectual Capital, which means one’s global savvy, cognitive complexity, and cosmopolitan outlook; Psychological Capital, which means the diversity passion, self-assurance, and quest for adventure; and Social Capital, which means the interpersonal impact, intercultural empathy, and diplomacy. They can efficiently interpret verbal as well as nonverbal messages and signals from people from different cultures. Moreover has the ability to demonstrate high levels of flexibility, thus can act differently in different contexts and situations.
The companies who have leaders that have a ‘global mindset’ are aware of the diversity across different cultures and countries, and of how activities in one area may impact another. Companies that value and actively promote proficiency in intercultural are more likely to attain the key business objectives and goals. These tend to be usually open to international opportunities and aware of the challenges different countries might present; and thus are more likely to achieve their global opportunities.
