News item in Washington Post on June 21, 2020, about gun violence titled 'Police enter Seattle cop-free zone after shooting kills a 19-year-old, critically injures a man.'

The article is about Saturday early morning gun violence when two men became its victims at Seattle where people gathered as part of Juneteenth march. This turned violent after Friday midnight when fireworks, alcohol, and celebrations triggered violence. This ended up in the death of a 19-year-old and another one in a critical condition at Harborview Medical Center Intensive Care Unit, which was confirmed by hospital spokeswoman.

Rationale: Increasing gun violence is a matter of concern even in the midst of a pandemic that took the lives of millions of people around the globe.

Risk and protective factors about this problem manifested in the news item are gun license issues and abolishing police department in light of 'black lives matter' protest. The police say they were prevented from reaching the crime scene on time by protesters.

In such situations, where police are incapacitated to do anything they can to prevent violence, a potential partnership between public health workers, health agencies, and community-based agencies can perform much better to address the issue. One intervention from the Public Health Intervention Wheel like surveillance can be applied effectively to the situation for the surveillance of the crowd and police with a community level of practice.
