Expert Solution

If the product is a sustainable product that means the wastage produced by that product is very less.

Sustainable considerations for the phone.

1.Recyclable.

2.Reusable.

3.More durable

Suppose assume the wastage of the material we produce to manufacture the phone is 80kg.

If the lifetime of the phone is 1 year, the wastage we produce 10 years is 800kg.

If the lifetime of the phone is 5 years, the wastage we produce is 160 kg.

If the lifetime of the phone is 10 years, the wastage we produce is 80kg.

So if we increase the lifetime of the phone, the phone will be sustainable. To increase the lifetime of the phone ,the phone should be more durable.

The diagram indicates the life cycle of the phone.

When the lifetime of the phone ends, the phone is not usable. the material used to build the phone will go to the dustbin. We can reduce that wastage ,

Making the phone Repairable and upgradeable(by providing new features to old mobile and by replacing the parts).

Making the phone Remanufacturable(Reusing the parts in new mobiles).

Making the phone Recyclable(Crushing mobile phones and reusing that material to manufacture the mobile).

If the answer is not understandable, ask in the comment section I will explain briefly.
