Describe at least one significant way that research methodologies differ in psychology, social sciences (archaeology), and the humanities (religion).
Archaeological research begins with a plan, as to why the research is being done , how the artifacts will recovered and preserved. Archival records are accessed to gain more knowledge about the research. Survey is carried out on the site through aerial photography and other methods. Excavation of the site is done by digging with tools such as shovels and towels. After the artifacts are taken out, they are taken to the lab or the the institution, which the archaeologists are associated to.
Research in Theology involves reviewing the literature available on the topic. The literature can be found in encyclopedias and other religious texts.These encyclopedias and religious texts are collected and read. After reviewing the books, important notes are taken for the topic, summarization of parts of texts are done. After the review, the aim and the design of the research is be formulated and an outline of the research made. Next is to start writing, after which a review and redraft of the writing is made and references and footnoted added to make the final version.
In psychological research. A topic is selected. Review of literature is done by finding various researches done in the past on similar topics on online journals or journals. After reviewing, the aim and hypothesis are made. The design of the study is constructed, whether the study will be experimental, survey, case study etc. Tools, questionnaires and scales are decided, which will be administered to the subjects. The sample, sampling technique and sample size is decided. Scoring procedures and analysis of data is done.
