Psychologist E. Hurlock believes that the development of the learner is accompanied by growth, through it's systematic and coherent pattern change.

Factors affecting development:

A. Inheritance: The complexion, height, intelligence and mental abilities of a child are determined by inheritance. At the time of conception, the genes of the parents are mixed in different ways. Because of this, difference are found among the children of the same parent.

B. Environment: The external environment, circumstances and social influence of the child is called environment.

C. Diet: The amount of the food that the child is getting from birth to adulthood and the material present in the diet affects his development.

D. Diseases: Diseases also affect the mental development of the child, if a child remains I'll in childhood, then his physical and mental development gets hindered.

E. Intelligence: The physical and mental development of the child directly affects the intelligence. A child with a retarded or low intelligence has difficulty in learning and their development takes a comparatively longer time.
