Auto insurance is required in most states to make sure damages, medical and liability claims can be paid. In Alabama what are the minimum limits required for Automobile insurance? If you traveled to Alaska would your insurance from Alabama be required to cover the higher minimum limits set by that state? Why or why not?
The bare minimum car insurance requirement for Alabama drivers is $25,000 bodily injury per person per accident, $50,000 bodily injury for all persons per accident, $25,000 property damage liability.
Alabama law requires that you also purchase Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists Bodily Injury Coverage in the minimum amount of $25,000 per person/$50,000 per accident, unless you tell your insurance provider in writing why you are opting out.
