Without food you could likely survive for days if not weeks. However, without water, you would only survive for a matter of days. Although water does not provide people with energy or calories as food does, it is essential to life and is often overlooked. Discuss the following in your initial post:

  1. What are your daily fluid needs?
  2. Do you meet your fluid needs on a daily basis?
  3. What factors influence the amount of fluid you need?
  4. Is it possible to meet your fluid needs without drinking water? Explain why or why not.
  5. How does the softness or hardness of water affect its healthfulness?
  6. What are the pros and cons of consuming bottled water?

Yes, drinking atleast 8 glasses of water is a daily requirement of our body. We should consume more water to maintain our body temperature and prevent ourselves from dehydration.

Factors such as renal function, body temperature, external environment affects the fluid intake. For example people with renal impairment needs more water for functioning of the kidney. People living in extreme hot weather, they require more water intake.

It is not possible to meet fluid needs without drinking water because water have it's own importance. Water provides all the essential elements which our body required.

The hard water contains minerals although it doesn't affect the health but it contains excess of minerals. The soft water contains sodium ions which can disturb the electrolyte balance.

The benefits of water bottle are that it is kind of treated water in which minerals are being added upto essential quantity which is beneficial for our health. The bottled water is purified water so it is safe to drink.

The demerits include as it is expensive as well as it is packed in plastic bottles which can cause chemical reaction which is not good for our health.

In 2017, it was discovered that naked mole rats (Heterocephalus glaber) could survive up to 18 minutes in an anoxic (0% oxygen) environment without any permanent damage to the organism. The normal body temperature of naked mole rats is 30°C, making them poikilothermic animals that are able to operate at a range of body temperatures and to alter its body temperature based upon the environment. Even if the animals are warmed to 37°C, they still survive 6 minutes in an...
