Dear Student,
Please find below answer to your questions
A) Identification of the Disparities in ageism in Healthcare and Long term care
When we say about the word "disparity" it really means the "differences".
Health disparity means the the differenecs that arises in health, injury.illness or mortality among two population groups. healthcare disparitiy is little different from that of health disparity.
In healthcare disparity it mainly views the difference that arises in health insurence coverage, access to and use of care and also the quality of care provided.
The main characteristics that create healthcare disparities are:
In many countries the health care are provided based on the each individuals social status. thats very unfair. Every individual in the society has equal rights for getting health care. This type of partiality has to be resolve soon and the health status has to be improved
B) Health issue and population of ageism in health care and long term care
There are several Health related issue due to changing pattern of lifestyle in Modern Days.
Obesity is a multifactorial disease that is caused by a combination of biological, genetic, social, environmental, and behavioral determinants.
In order to address this gap in the understanding of the social and environmental determinants of ill Health and improve the care of patients with ill Health, we need to will the evidence for the social and environmental determinants of ill Health development.
The evidence for social and environmental factors that contribute to ill Health are often underappreciated.
ill Health prevalence is significantly associated with sex, racial ethnic identity, and socioeconomic status, which creates complex relationships between each of these characteristics.
Environments experiencing deprivation, disorder, or high crime have been shown to be associated with higher odds of ill Health, which may appear more frequently in low social status individuals.
Environmental characteristics surround the individual, including the physical spaces where people live, work, and play, as well as sociocultural norms. The social hierarchy refers to social status or social rank of individuals within larger society or a local community.
The extent of the information on individual, environmental, and social hierarchy constraints on ill Health development. Knowledge provided by these "vital signs" and social determinants could help providers make appropriate lifestyle-tailored recommendations for the patient.
C) Various issue of ageism in healthcare
We will try to cover all the issues that people face with old age and it is scintifically called as ageism in healthcare
It is associated with older people, these are at high risk for developing complex health problems, chronic illness, and disability, and will continue to be, the heaviest users of health care.
However there are some issues faced by these people can be grouped into four type:
Issue 1: Older Adults Need Help Managing Multiple Chronic Conditions
Older adults affected with Chronic conditions remain independent and active,as they have the resources to self-manage their chronic conditions so that symptoms are controlled, while others chronic conditions, such as hypertension, may be controllable with
medications. However, some chronic conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, may be more disabling or more severe than other conditions.
Issue 2: Too Few Primary Health Care Providers are Educated to Provide Geriatric-Focused Care
There is critical shortages in the number of health care providers or registered nurses who are educated in the unique health needs of older adults and these will worsen further as demand is going to grow in the coming days.
Issue 3: Financial Issues Drive Health Care Choices for Many Older Adults
TAs adults age, some need help only with daily activities, such as cleaning, cooking, or personal care in addition , in order to remain in their own homes. Unfortunately, Medicare does not reimburse for this type of care
Issue 4: Cultural Values Do Not Give Priority to Providing Services and Support for Older Adults
In the American culture and value system, emotional and cognitive understanding of illness and health often do not meet and there is a disjunction.
The greatest challenges to our health care system is not to simply increase the number of health care providers who are focused on diagnosing medical problems in older adults. Instead, the challenge is to place 'value' on the full spectrum of helping older adults enjoy quality of life in old age.
This change of 'values' will only occur with a commitment to embrace the importance of aging issues, by
1. Universities that educate primary health care providers, but also
2. Health care organizations that decide what health care will be received by elders and their families and how much that care will cost, and by Legislators who determine the budgets for national health.
