Certain villages in India are very conservative and women are required to wear clothes that completely cover their entire body. Unfortunately, these women experience bone pain, fractures, muscle weakness, and depression. Explain the relationship between their attire and the signs and symptoms they are experiencing? Be detailed in your explanation and support your answer with facts from your textbook, research, and articles from scholarly journals. In addition, remember to add references in APA format to your posts to avoid plagiarism.
India has a varied rich tradition and culture .Indian civilizations is one of the diverse and unique of its kind in the entire world.Indians have a wide array of religions each following their own customs and beliefs .Being a secular country ,Indian states has its own ethic practices and attires ..So women are expected to wear the traditional clothes especially on religious occasions but is not mandatory in urban areas, but in village and rural areas the people are quite conservative and expect their women to follow the traditions and customs of that particular region. But still in urban areas ,women spend majority of their time indoors due to pollution .Since vitamin D is endogeneously consumed by our body through skin ,sunlight is an essential factor for getting Vitamin D.
In an article related to Aetiology and clinical profile of oestomalacia in adolescent girls in Northern India,it states that though nutritional deficiencies are present in adolescent girls,it is not related to Osteomalcia, due to vitamin D deficiency ,which occurs as a result of lack of sunshine, since India is a tropical country. As most of them claims that wearing long purdhas and indian attires contributes to the developing such disorders in Indian women .It is not true to an extent. They have conducted a clinical presentation based on the etiological and social factors contributing to the development of oestomalacia in women and found out that out of the21 symptomatic adults only 1 practiced purdha while the others belonged to a low socio economic group.
It is to be noted that only a few women belonging to minority communities wear purdhas. In India we have a moderate temperte climate and gets abundant sunshine through out the year. But there are other sugnificant factors which contribute to the skeletal disorders in women mainly due to low intake of calcium rich foods.
In another study conducted by International Journal of Innovative Research in Science ,Engineering and Technology regardingDeficiency of Vitamin D among females in Northern India explains the fact that Indian women are not properly utilising sunlight .
