In your opinion, what additional steps should the NFL (and other sport leagues/associations) take in order to help further prevent concussions (and traumatic brain injuries) and make sports safer for athletes?

We need to help and understand more about the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and long-term impact of concussions and brain injury. Further strengthing our medical care, continue to evolve the game and our rules, bring together engineers toward the development of better equipment is required for the safety of players.

Many concussions go unreported; an accurate concussion history for an individual typically is not available and experts warn that there is a risk of serious injury when multiple concussions are sustained over time so education is the key. It is important  to recognize the signs and symptoms of concussion, and knows what to do if a concussion is suspected both on the field and off.

Sports Safety Equipment :  Proper use of personal protective equipment. Helmets and other protective equipment should fit properly, be appropriate for the position or activity, be well maintained, and be consistently and correctly used.Some of the difficulties in sports concussion prevention may stem from the lack of a universal definition and a common belief that concussions are “part of the game.

By taking this training- and taking concussion seriously—you’ve shown your dedication to your athletes and their safety. To ensure that concussions are identified early and managed correctly, have an action plan in place before the season starts. Monitor the health of your athletes. Teach and remind athletes of safe-playing techniques. Encourage them to follow the rules of play; to practice good sportsmanship at all times; and to consistently wear the right protective equipment. Discuss any need for improvements to your concussion policy or action plan with appropriate health care professionals and league.
