What is trigger strategy and can you find an example for that?
pls go in detail
Trigger strategy is class of strategies employed in a
non-corporative repeated game. In this trigger strategy theory an
opponent cooperates until the opponent started non
cooperation.
There are different trigger strategies and according to this the
level of punishment and level of trigger differ with different
trigger strategies.
Tit for Tat, Tit for Two Tats, Grim trigger are the trigger
strategies. In the Tit for Tat strtegy the punishment longs as long
as the other player defects. In the Tit fot Two Tats is the vary of
Tit for Tat, but it is more forgiving variant of that. Grim trigger
is more adverse strategy in among the trigger strategies. According
to this adverse theory the punishment continues for unlimited time
once the other player defects.
The oxford reference gives a good example for the grim trigger
strategy. that, in a repeated prisoner's dilemma the both parties
are supposed not to confess. If any of the party do confession then
the other party do confession in every subsequent time.
If we take this repeated prisoner's dilemma in a Tit for Tat
strategy then if the one party confess then the other party just
confess for the next time only. Not in every subsequent time.
If the same example is taken for the Tit For Two Tats, then if
opponent party confess the other party forgive and he confess only
if opponent party again confess.
