The discovery of photoelectric effect, in the 19th century has led to the invention of solar cells in 1883 and further later, the construction of solar power stations. The world's first solar power station was built in Odeillo, France and was known as the Odeillo solar furnace in 1969.This solar furnace, had a 8-story parabolic mirror which reflected and absorbed the solar light energy. This particular discovery of solar power is categorised into energy and science as it provided high temperatures for various experiments and power for energy consumption. At first, the odeillo solar furnace, before 1969, was known as the great solar oven of odeillo was primarily utilised for science experiments by french chemists and later during 1969 was comissioned to become a power house for the production of electricity from solar energy. This building in odeillo has been a great resource to implement and spread the message of renewable energy resources from day 1 to people everywhere.
