## Q ) Assume that the following events are independent: The probability that a high school senior will go to college is 0.70. The probability that a high school senior will go to college AND live on campus is 0.48. What is the probability that a high school senior will live on campus, GIVEN that the person will go to college?
Answer :
The probability that a high school senior will go to college is 0.70. ie
P (will go to college ) = 0.70 and
The probability that a high school senior will go to college AND live on campus is 0.48. ie
P ( will go to college and live on campus ) = 0.48
## What is the probability that a high school senior will live on campus, GIVEN that the person will go to college?
Answer : P ( live on campus / will go to college ) = ?
= Probability of both / Probability of college ie
= P ( will go to college and live on campus ) / P (will go to college )
= 0.48 / 0.70
= 0.6857
