Which is more severe, a disease with a high mortality or a high morbidity? Also what is a DALY?
ANS:
A disease with a high morbidity is considered to be more severe. It can be predicted to determine disease risk and compare patient illness and outcomes between hospitals that is The higher your morbidity, the shorter your life span may be that if you were healthy.
The term morbidity is often used to describe illness, impairment, or degradation of health, especially when discussing chronic and age-related diseases which can worsen over time whereas mortality is related to your risk of death. can be used to see how many people are dying in the world. This rate is often paired with those used to calculate the number of people being born (e.g., crude birth rate), so as to estimate the total living human population on the planet.
DALY: Disability-Adjusted Life Year
One DALY can be called as one lost year of a "healthy" life. The sum of these Disability Adjusted Life Years across the population, or the burden of disease, can be considered as a measurement of the gap between current health situation and an ideal health status where the entire population lives to an advanced age, free of disability and diseases.
