What external force (political/governmental, legal, professional/industry, economic, socioeconomic, demographic, or technological) has an impact on your career occupation? Please explain?
Nursing has attained worldwide popularity. As the demand increases, the number of institutions that teach nursing has also increased. However, benefiting only the profit, many of the schools don't possess the basic guidelines for starting up a school. Such as accreditation, infrastructure, adequate educators, clinics to practice. In my opinion, economic and political factors have an impact on my profession.
Due to lack of financial backup, the colleges cut down the number of faculties and increase the fees from the student. The students get forced to work at various hospitals and clinics due to staffs shortage. This results in ill health and overexertion on the students. If the school is not accredited, the nurse may face the serious issue in finding a job. Accreditation shows the quality of the nurse.
However, the scenario doesn't change during the actual working hours. In the name of cost-cutting and high demand, workplace demands more working hours with less staffs. The hospital's demand more productivity within less time and man force.
Change in government policies has an impact on career. The policies that advocate the increase in the standard of practice, increase in the payment for nurses and others has created a political struggle in the workplace. Quality of services requires more products and practices which again a financial load for the hospitals as well as an increase in the payment for the staffs. This results in termination of the job as well as growing insecurity in the career.
