Explain ICD-10-CM and CPT-4
ICD stands for International Classification of Disease.
ICD - 10 - CM stands for International Classification of Disease - 10th revision - Clinical modification.
ICD - 10 - CM is used for the physician , diagnostician or other health care personnel to mention the diagnosis of patient. ICD contains standard diagnosis approved by United States of health. It is very helpful for the health care personnel to mention the code. By the code itself we can understand the diagnosis , symptoms and the treatment plan or procedure which has to be done for the patient.
CPT - 4 stands for Current Procedural Terminology 4th edition.
Patients avail so many health insurance for the treatment. So in order to mention the treatment or procedure plan which has to be done for the patient to insurance agencies , CPT is helpful. So the insurance companies by the code itself they can understand the procedure to be done to the patient.
