Imagine that a state site visit of your facility is scheduled for next month. During a previous visit, the state revealed you were poorly graded on: Substandard food not meeting nutritional standards and cultural needs. Supplies for personal care were too limited for census in facility size. Medication errors were numerous. Eight out of 10 of your residents were tested positive for Urinary Tract Infections. They also mentioned that improvements must be made by the next inspection, or the facility would be closed. For this discussion posting, please choose two issues from the above list, and argue how would you improve the quality of services for your residents? Mention all the possible quality improvement measures. What tools and actions would you use to correct each of these infractions? Tell your classmates about the time frame in which the corrective actions will be initiated and executed and why?

Expert Solution

The two major issues from the above list are food not meeting nutritional standards and the other the number of positive urinary tract infections. The facilities provided might not have met the standards of the residents and one must raise their voice to fulfill the requirements. The quality of services should include better food and better water sanitation.Due to increases UTI the water that is provided is not clean and might be infected with bacteria which results in such complications.Food safety policy should be implemented by the residents association in order to fulfil the supply of nutritious food ,proper food handling, good storage places to store food without contamination caused by insects, mites etc, proper food labelling and dating.Water contamination to be avoided by proper pipe and pump settings which helps in avoiding contamination of water.Proper water supply and storage facilities, proper sterilisation techniques to be implemented. The time frame for all these corrective actions might take few months to sort out where the problem has occured, how to stop it and how to improve it in future so that all the diseases can be reduced.
