If the Dax case occurred today, should providers honor Dax’s wishes and stop treatment? Explain in detail. Identify and discuss at least 2 specific actions that do not include stopping treatment that providers and hospital leaders could take to resolve the situation.
Dax case:
Dax cowart is a 1973 born Air force reserve pilot..He
met air-propane gas accident with his father..his father died and
Cowart's injuries and lost both hands, eyes, ears and two-third of
his skin area..He wrote a statement in the hospital he was treated
for 14months and he was desired access to legal assistance.which he
might have forced treatment to end..He attempted suicide several
times..Dax's case an hour-long documentary released in
1985..Expressly produced as an educational film for audience
concerned with complex legal, medical and ethical decisions, with
advanced logical fashion..His own recollection of and perspective
on the pain and suffering endured during treatment and
rehabilitation are counter pointed..His open statement describing
their feelings and articulating their intentions throughout length
life-and-death or deal..
If the Dax case occured today as a providers physician
can not honour patient wish for dying ..but cowart strongly belives
in patient autonomy, due to intense pain cowart was saying he would
like to die...now in well developed organization doctors can do
best for patient suffering with pain..so death intension due to
pain in case of terminally ill can be preventable..So providers and
hospitals leaders when patient with terminally ill suffering with
painthey have to relieve their suffering by increasing dosage of
pain medication or better pain medication to relieve the
pain..
Patient and doctor communication for thier
treatment and medication process is important..it is important for
to be such things as informed and voluntary consent between patient
and physician..providers and hospital leaders should respect
patient autonomy and discuss with the patient why they are not
agreeing the treatment..provide enough time to think and decide
what the proper course of action should be..
