How many moles of Cl2 gas would be needed to react with 6.00 liters of a 0.250 M NaClO2solution?
2 NaClO2 (aq) + Cl2 (g) → 2 ClO2 (g) + 2 NaCl (aq)
Given , 2 Na ClO₂ ( aq ) + Cl₂ ( g ) → 2 ClO₂ ( g ) + 2 NaCl ( aq )
In 1 liters solution NaClO₂ is 0.250 mole.
In 6 liters we have = 6x 0.250 m .
Now according to to given equation mole ratio of NaClO₂ : Cl2 = 2: 1 .
So No. of moles of Cl₂ required 2 ( 6x12.50 m ) ×1/2 = 3x0.250m =. 0.650mole
0.650 mole for the given question mole calculations.
