7) State outcome criteria for evaluating client responses to measures that promote adequate oxygenation.
The criteria for assessing the response of measures that promote adequate oxygenation are:-
1. Reassessing the respiratory rate after providing intervention - Stabilization of respiratory rate between 16-20 breaths /min ensures adequate oxygenation.During shortness of breath patient has tachypnea.
2.Assess the patient for any difficult in breathing and the breath sounds - Absence of shortness of breath and wheezing during auscultation ensures adequate oxygenation.
3. Assessing the heart rate after providing intervention -. Stabilization of heart rate ,means patient will have normal heart rate between 60-100beats/min. During shortness of breath ,heart rate increases(tachycardia).
4. Assessing the skin colour of the patient -Bluish discolouration of skin due to deficiency of oxygen called cynosis, after adequate oxygen therapy cyanosis disappears.
5. Assessing the saturation level post intervention - Stabilization of saturation level between 95-100 ensures adequate oxygenation.
6. Assessing the mental status of patient - Patient will be alert , concentrated and have no confusions . Patients with deficiency in oxygen level has confusion ,altered sensorium.
7. Assessing the ABG values - Normal ABG values like ph between 7.35 to 7.45, pO2- 80 to 100mmhg ,pCO2- 35 to 45mmhg ,bicarbonate between 22-27 mEq/l.
8 Ask the patient for any complaints of dizziness, fainting etc . The patient will have no complaints of dizziness and fainting after adequate oxygen therapy.
