Here Mrs Jane is a diagnosed case of LARYNGEAL CANCER with TRACHEOSTOMY. and is now admitted for suspected MI.
Here husband asks about why does she needs so often suctioning of tracheostomy?
Let is understand what is tracheotomy and what care is required?
Tracheostomy is a procedure of making a opening in trachea for different reasons.
These patients has air entry from trschestomy site instead of nose from where we normaly breath.
Usually our respiratory tract and pharynx(throat) secretes alof of thick mucoid secretion which is pushed by ciliary movement upto throat automatically and then we remove out my coughing or straining, but incase of tracestomy this secretion tries to come out through tracheostomy opening and sometimes may plug it and cause difficulty in breathing so suctioning is very important with tracheotomy. patient.
