If my friend is getting braces , then I will suggest the following for her apprehensive pain and appearance.

-. Pain -. In the beginning , most people experience some pain for first few days and after tightening of braces . But, Every person will have different experience , some may experience mild pain.

When an orthodontist first fits braces, a person will not feel immediate pain , However , after few hours , you will feel some gentle pressure of the braces or pain in teeth, but it wouldlast from a day to a week. You may experience sore gums , potential for cuts on tongue , but after some time , a person body get adjusted and pain is not felt.

All the pain will go away within few days . In meantime , a person can use warm water rinse , eats soft foods such as ice cream , soups , drink cold beverages and avoid sticky foods.

2. Appearances -. At the time when you get braces , you may feel some apprehension about your appearance and you might encounter some discomfort emotionally and physically.But you should keep in mind that if you had not get braces you might have crooked teeth or a problem with overbite or underbite . You must remember that you are doing something good for your future appearance and health.- You must also remember that you are not the only one with the problem , one of every Four people wears braces over the age of 21
