1. Contributing factors to childhood obesity in Americans include behavior and genetics. Behavior means eating patterns (overeating, junk foods), physical inactivity etc
2. Contributing factors to adult obesity in Americans include medical conditions, sedentary lifestyle, race, unhealthy diet, socio-economic status etc
3. Nurses can play an important role in reducing the obesity in people. In order to promote the nutrition and weight status objectives for healthy people 2020, they have to take some steps forward. It includes

• Recommending nutrition education:- educate the people on healthy eating. Healthy diet reduces the excess calories in the body thereby reduces overweight ie, obesity
• Encouraging exercise:- exercise will helps to burn out the excessive calories in the body and reduces obesity
• Medical checkup:- helps to know the medical status of the person and if there is any problem contributing to obesity it can be cured as early.
• Changing family lifestyle:- sedentary lifestyle can be changed by doing activities in family
• Promote walking and bicycling in schools
• School Nutrition Policy Initiative:- interventions include removing all sodas, sweetening drinks and unhealthy snack foods from schools
