Q3. Electromagnetic waves are produced by oscillating accelerated particle. Give the reason, why electromagnetic waves have more application than the non-electromagnetic waves? An EM radiation coming out when a TV remote is switched on. Now, if it starts propagating from vacuum into water, it is assumed that its speed is reduced to half, predict its wavelength in water and justify your result. Compare and validate your results for a radiation coming out from an X-ray machine. Compare the effects on frequency of both EM waves when there is a change in medium. Justify your findings. Expert Solution

EM waves are mostly used in propagating signals ...and em waves are transverse in nature can propagate through vacuuam compared to longitudanal waves .....so they are mostly preferred ....the power loss with the em waves is less than any other waves s.

A tv remote uses Infrared part of the Em spectrum of free space wavelength

as from wave eqn we have where v = speed of wave ,   = frequency of the wave , = wavelegth

so

if the speed is halfed so the wavelength be also halfed travelling from vacuum to water

as the speed change depends upon the medium itselfso using Xray we would get the same result if the medium pair is not altered .

during refraction frequency of the sysem does not change at all .
