“Inequality For All” that is really sticking with you in new york city – maybe you found it particularly inspiring or particularly troubling. What was it about that moment that is so memorable? please do not copy-paste or do not write handbook type
'Inequality for all' is a documentary made by Professor Robert Reich. It explains our major economic problems faced. It enables us to understand the issues we are facing today, the gap of inequality, how it is increasing, why it is happening and what can be done to reverse it. It is extremely difficult to argue against inequality as it is highly prevalent in our society. After watching the documentary, it concerned me if money has any relevance in life.
It is understood that the money hoarded by the top 1%is not invested for job creation or in production of any real goods or services. Most of this money is further invested in speculative markets to make more money, by this no direct employment is generated
The income tax ratios may also sometimes be unfair. Sometimes a teacher might end up paying 30-34% income tax while another person earning $2 million probably would pay 15% in his income.
This inequality has a bad impact on the economy. When middle and lower class people feel the pinch, they reduce their expenditure and cut back on buying things. This would lead to less demand for the products that would lead to less production and that leads to more losses. And this all leads to more stress on the economy.
I liked the ending of the documentary where Professor Reich stresses his belief and confidence on the youth and says that the solution to these problems is in our youth. Those who graduate and finish their higher studies, the responsibility is on their shoulders to solve this inequality problem that has been torn apart by lobbying, divisiveness and the big corporates. He said “I choose to be here, in this course, because I believe in you".
This documentary is an inspiration to many. And I hope that more and more people see this and we are able to make a difference one day.
