A) The condition of the patient is considered to be the obstructed labour. It is also known as labour distocia. Obstructed labour is the abnormal condition that usually occure during the normal process of delivery. in this condition baby is not descendng down further through the birth canal. The progression of labour is prolonged due to the mechanical causes.
B) The mother is having gestational diabetes. In such cases the baby will be large bab. Therefore the baby might not be able to deliver throght the birth canal as normal and usual.Another cause for the condition might be the following
* shoulder distocia
* huge baby
* abnormal positioning of the baby
abnormal baby size due to the gestational diabetes is the main cause for the obstructed labour in the patient.
C) The condition can be treated by the following methods:
* Cesarean section should be conducted to deliver the baby
* Vaccum extraction can be used to deliver the baby
* Vaccum delivery along with the combination of using the surgical opening of the symphisis pubis.
Other important things to be followed are:
-Antibiotic administration to the patient if the rupture of the membrabe had already occured
- Frequent monitring of the fetal status
- Frequent monitoring of the mother
- Maintaing the hydraiton status of the mother
- Maintain strict monitoring using partograph
D) Obstructed labour and its affect on the fetus or the baby:
* CHild will be affected with hypoxia leading to fetal death . ( this is due to the prolongation of the actuve phase of labour for more than 12 hours.)
* Shoulder distocia can occure in the child which results in the obstruction in normal delivery.( this is because the malpresenetation or the positionig of the fetus will cause shoulder to get obstructed over the pelvic cavity or at the symphisis pubis.)
* Maternal complications are also present due to this condition of labour distocia
