You are the manager of ALL health services in a district.
Measles and malnutrition are high priority morbidity in your area of accountability. (Note that young, malnourished kids can die if they contract measles)
Develop a solution to measles (you already have a plan for malnutrition) as a problem through a measles immunization campaign using Value Based Care.

Solutions

Expert Solution

● Measles is an acute highly infectious disease of childhood

●It is caused by a specific virus od the group myxoviruses

●Clinically characterised by fever and catarrhal symptomsof the upper respiratory tract ,followed by a typical rash.

PREVENTION OF MEASLES

● a) Achieving an immunization rate of over 95%

b) On going immunization against measles through successive generation of children

• Exclude the person with measles from childcare, preschool, school and work for atleast 4 days after the onset of the rash

• In most circumstance, contacts who are not immune to measles should be excluded from childcare, preschool, school and work for 18 days, after the last contact with an infectious person

• Where the contact with an infectious person occurs in an early childhood education and catmre service or primary school setting ,or if the contact is immune-suppressed,advice on the exclusion period should be sought from the communicable disease

• Vaccination is done by active and passive immunization

• Active immunization : This is done by using live attenuated vaccines

• All are tissue culture live attenuated, freeze dried vaccines,They are safe and effective
