An example of Asian Mega-city with a capitalistic western background could be the chinese city of Shanghai in Asia.It is among one of the major global financial hub.It fulfills the major criterias required to be classified as a megacity.Its history can be traced back to its colonisation by European and American powers.It was built and designed by europeans for europeans.Glimpses of western background can be easily seen in the city.

An example of an Asian mega city with non-western background can be the japanese city of Tokyo.Its among the largest economic powers in the world with major hub for production and other financial activities.It too fulfills the criteria of a mega city and much more exists there to support the statement.It does not have a western background because it had not yet been colonised by any major European or  American power in the history.It was a colony of itself and holds good glimpses of its rich cultural and social background along with financial growth.
