The world’s rainforest are usually around the equator, while its great deserts are generally located at 30 N and S latitude. Explain why this is so.
As the name suggests "Rainforest"..means forest which are results of Rain.As we know , at the equator the amount of sunlight is very high and direct( perpendicular) which results into high evaporation at high rate and finally we get heavy rainfall. There are two types of rainforest ,Tropical and temperate.Mainly the TROPICAL rainforest are found near equator.
The main reason of heavyrainfall is the quantity of air found near equator are very hot and hot air becomes light and moves upside, where they cools, condensed and precipitates, which results into the formation of Low pressure Zone. The low pressure gives rise to heayrainfall....which helps in creating rainforest.Eg of tropical rainforest are South and Central America,South east Asia.
Main rainforest comes under Tropical rainforest is Amazon...also called lungs of Earth.
Desert are mainly present near 30N and South latitude which is distant from equator because the hot air around the equator will spread and go down in that area. When hot air reached, it will become more dense and warming again, which results into more evaporation and responsible for evaporating more water from land surfaces which causes more hot environment and desert formed.Because of spreading warm air in this zone less condensation and precipitation occur,so less rain also seen. The desert may be hot and cool but the 30 N and South latitude form hot desert.Eg Sahara desert in Northen Africa.
