• What health informatics role
might you want to pursue professionally? Why?
I would like to pursue the role of medication error analyst in health informatics professionally. It is because, as a nurse I know the administration details of drugs to the patients of the ward where I am posted. The time, frequency, route and dose of drug administration to the patients are very well documented by a nurse.
• What responsibilities associated with that role would most appeal to you? Why?
The responsibility of cross checking the medication chart to analyse chances of medication error. This actually enhances the quality of the care provided and improves patient compliance which actually satisfies me.
• What aspects of that role and its associated responsibilities would you expect might be most challenging? Why?
The most challenging responsibility could be the physical and electronic assurance signature that I have to provide after crosss checking the drug list from which any error has been reported. This will actually cause an issue for the nurse who administered the drug, the doctor who prescribes it and can be even an issue for the pharmacist who dispense it, according to the source and reason behind the medication error. The next step after ruling out the reason is enquiry to the corresponding professionals from the above mentione list which can be a black mark in their professional records especially if the error has led to serious harms. The sole formality is initiated from my assurance signature for which the thorough checking and analysis of medication chart is mandatory. This is the challenge that foresee in the role which I prefer in doing in health informatics.
Please do not hesitate to give thumbs up. Happy learning. All the best. Stay safe.
