Discuss to the patient diagnosed with gonorrhea as follows:

About the method of transmission such as oral, vaginal or anal sex and a pregnant women can pass it to her baby during delivery.

The partner to be evaluated for gonorrheal infection.

As the gonorrheal infection increase the chance of other Sexually transmitted infections(STIs), there is need to be rule out other (STIs).

As it is caused by Neisseria Gonorrhoea (Bacteria) - Anti bacterial agents are available to treat the infection and complete cure is possible with antibiotics.

Until completion of antibiotic treatment,advised to avoid sexual contact.

As it have a chance of reoccurrence, there is need to be safe sex even after treatment.

If the wife is pregnant, there is to be safe delivery process, to avoid transmission to baby and the baby to be ruled out for gonorroeal infection at eyes (Conjunctivitis)

Eventhough it is curable disease, if it is not treated leads to many complications such as meningitis, joint inflammation.
