The addition of 62 mL of water to reconstitute a bottle of amoxicillin for oral suspension produces 80 mL of a suspension containing 125 mg/5 mL. What would be the strength in mg/teaspoonful if 44.5 mL of diluent was mistakenly used? Round your final answer to a whole number of milligrams
According to above Question the strength of the Suspension is- 125mg/5mL.
Solution - 5mL Contains 125 mg
1 mL Contains 125/5 mg
80 mL Contains (125*80)/5 mg = 2000mg..
On the other hand,, 62mL water Contains 2000 mg
1 mL Water Contains 2000/62 mg
44.5 mL Water contains (2000* 44.5) / 62 mg = 1435.48 mg..
Teaspoonful Calculation-
1 mg= 5 mL
Then, 1435.48 mg= 5/ 1435.48 mL
= 0.0034 mL..
Then, The strength in mg / teaspoonful is- 1435.48mg/ 0.0034 mL (Ans)
