Spiritual intervention for Healthcare Providers
Spiritual interventions are necessary to meet the spiritual needs of an individual. Spiritual intervention helps the individual to acquire a hope for life and to understand the purpose of life and its value. These intervention often involves religious aspects.
Healthcare Providers can adapt different spiritual intervention for their life that helps their personal as well as professional life. For example: Prayer or Meaning focused meditation. They can pray to Almighty God ( according to their beliefs) , who created the whole universe and the human beings for them and for others. Some people instead of prayer they practice Meditation, in the form of Mindfulness meditation or Transcendental meditation. Research studies show that prayer or the Meditation practices have significantly reduced the anxiety in health care providers and depression in cancer patients.
Other examples of Spiritual intervention, can be used by others to solve situations which satisfy to respect patient's spirituality.
1. Spiritual Counselling: It is one of the effective technique among spiritual intervention. Anyone who is trained in counselling can use Spiritual Counselling for the patients or anyone in distress ( victims of Disasters), who believes in a Super power/ God of universe. Spiritual Counselling is provided for the needy to relieve them from their distress and assuring them that everything happens for good and he / she is in control of God and Nothing will happen beyond his will.
This can be provided to the patients according to their religious beliefs. Don't hurt anyone's feeling, instead respect them and their spiritual values and assist the in meeting their spiritual needs such as providing privacy for prayer, arranging a facility for the prayer and worship, allow their spiritual leaders ( pastors or priest) to visit them are some of the ways to meet their spiritual needs.
Psychotherapy, yoga and meditation, encouraging patients to express their worries and doubts, listening to their religious needs are all come under Spiritual interventions.
