Silent knowledge stage is period where nurses practice blind obedience to medical authority. Hospital schools believed that the nursing education comprises only of learning technical skills and that there is no need to be educated of theory. It is in this stage that nurses are dependent to doctors and they carry out orders no questions asked. The nurses obey the physician's orders. Nurses must obedient and to fulfill the responsibilities ordered by the physician without asking any question. The impact on the theory is limited in the development of theory due to the limitation of data.

2. Received Knowledge stage:

Received knowledge stage is the time when nurses were encouraged to be registered as a professional by taking up state licensure and pursue graduate education to study Nursing function and purpose. In this, the knowledge is gained by just listening to the others. The impact of the theory is obtaining theories from the various disciplines. That means the nurses are received only nondoctoral degrees such as sociologists, psychologists, anthropologists, and physiologists to improve the knowledge and to solve the nursing problems.
